As we wrote in 1.1.2, all Waymo crash counts are based on events reported as part of the NHTSA Standing General Order (SGO). Additionally, the raw data used to generate all the statistics on the data hub are provided as CSV file downloads – allowing any researcher or other third party to replicate and verify the results. This includes the number of miles driven in each location (CSV1), the SGO case identification and outcome categories for each case included in the analysis (CSV2), comparisons to the benchmark crash rates aggregated by location, outcome, and crash type (CSV3), and the miles driven in geographic locations in the city used for the dynamic location adjustment (CSV4). The methods used in the data hub are based on peer-reviewed papers that are open access (see question 1.3 for citations).
