Over the past couple months, I worked on developing infrastructure to post-train and serve models cheaply. Code execution is better for complex, stateful workflows. If your agent needs to poll an API every 30 seconds, aggregate results across paginated endpoints, or orchestrate multi-step transactions with rollback logic, writing code is more natural than chaining CLI calls. Duet's approach makes sense for agents that are essentially autonomous developers.
It could, potentially, expand those targets to include vital infrastructure like desalination plants that provide drinking water for millions.
